Did you know that improving literacy is a foundational investment that results not just in a stronger economy, but also in healthier individuals and communities? Higher literacy rates are strongly associated with economic advancement, reduced crime and healthcare costs, breaking the cycle of poverty, and building resilience across society. The mission of Bridge of Books is to support the development of literacy which benefits us ALL. Bridge of Books is excited about their 3rd annual Run or Walk 5k for Reading to celebrate 22 years of distributing books to underserved children across all of New Jersey’s 21 counties! Chapter by chapter, year-to-year, the core elements of their story remains the same - to bridge the gap in access to books. By providing an ongoing source of books to children in low-income communities, Bridge of Books supports the development of literacy skills and encourage a love of reading. Reading stimulates the brain, enhances creativity, communication and critical thinking skills, and empathy, and fosters a strong bond between parents and children. Join Bridge of Books on Sunday, October 26 in Thompson Park to run for reading.
