TRENTON – Governor Phil Murphy today announced the allocation of over $95 million from New Jersey’s Opioid Recovery and Remediation Fund to support critical programs tackling the opioid crisis, connecting New Jerseyans with tools to reduce overdoses and other harms of substance use, and supporting the treatment and recovery of residents struggling with substance use disorders. At the recommendation of the State’s Opioid Recovery and Remediation Advisory Council and with extensive input from the public, six programs addressing four priority areas – harm reduction, prevention and recovery support, treatment, and housing – have been identified to receive funding over the next two to three years.

TRENTON, NJ – Just three years shy of the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission’s (NJ-CRC) establishment and just under two years into adult-use (recreational) sales, the agency’s dispensary directory now lists 102 medicinal and recreational cannabis dispensaries across the state.

Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order No. 354 establishing the New Jersey-India Commission. The commission will be charged with advancing bilateral trade and investment and encouraging economic development in both New Jersey and India. As India is the most populous country in the world with one of the fastest-growing economies, the commission aims to promote cultural and educational exchanges between New Jersey and India and to promote sustainable long-term economic growth.

NEWARK, NJ – NJ TRANSIT is expanding its Access Link rideshare partnership to seven additional counties throughout the state. Access Link customers in Region 4 (Mercer, Monmouth, Middlesex and North Ocean) and Region 6 (Bergen, Passaic and Hudson) are now able to opt in to receive their rides through Lyft or Black and White Taxi as part of the Riders’ Choice Pilot Program which began in May 2023.

TRENTON – First Lady Tammy Murphy and New Jersey Department of Health Acting Commissioner Kaitlan Baston today released the New Jersey Report Card of Hospital Maternity Care. The report card is the first of its kind in the nation and outlines key metrics on maternal health care derived from 2021 and 2022 hospital deliveries reported to the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) through general acute care hospital discharges and electronic birth records. The report card comes in a new redesigned format allowing viewers easy access to additional metrics and improved interactive features, and was designed with the needs of expecting moms front of mind.

TRENTON – Governor Phil Murphy announced his intention to nominate Francis (Fran) K. O’Connor as Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT). O’Connor’s nomination follows the transition of current DOT Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti to her new role as Governor Murphy’s Chief of Staff.

TRENTON – First Lady Tammy Murphy today hosted a roundtable discussion to celebrate Maternal Health Awareness Day. During the discussion, the First Lady, Department of Children and Families Commissioner Christine Norbut Beyer, Senate Majority Leader M. Teresa Ruiz, Assemblywoman Shanique Speight, and others discussed the importance of the recently launched Family Connects NJ program. Family Connects NJ is a new state program offering a free, voluntary, in-home visit by a specially trained nurse to support all families and their newborns within two weeks after delivery.
