In 1933, Charlie, a Polish-born Jew who emigrated to America a decade earlier, returns to his hometown of Rovno in search of a bride. There Charlie meets Chava, who works at a hat shop and hopes to become a scholar. However, Chava’s ambitions for the future and the growing clouds of European anti-Semitism and persecution threaten both their dreams.

UCPAC’s Sensory Friendly Theatre movie screening of Disney’s “Encanto” is a digital presentation specially adapted for children and adults with autism and other sensory sensitivities. Tickets are just $5 thanks to the Union County Board of County Commissioners. Disney’s “Encanto” follows a multigenerational Colombian family, the Madrigals, led by a matriarch whose children and grandchildren—except for Mirabel Madrigal—receive magical gifts from a miracle, which they use to help the people in their rural community, called the Encanto. When Mirabel learns that the family is losing their magic, she sets out to find out why and save her family and house. Starring the voices of Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, Mauro Castillo [es], Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, Carolina Gaitán, Diane Guerrero, and Wilmer Valderrama, with Rhenzy Feliz, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Adassa, and Maluma in additional roles.

The Borough of Sea Bright is proud to announce an exciting new community tradition: Sea Bright Day, debuting on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (rain date October 5). This inaugural celebration will showcase everything that makes Sea Bright such a unique and vibrant place to live and visit.Located in the municipal parking lot, Sea Bright Day will bring together neighbors and visitors for an afternoon of live music, food, family fun, and community spirit. Highlights include a free surf lesson with Lucky Dog Surf School, and a variety of activities hosted by municipal departments, and local businesses and organizations. A bonfire on the beach at 6 p.m. caps the day’s activities.Guests can look forward to a packed schedule of fun: the Fire Department’s beer truck, dunk tank, and Mrs. Rooney’s legendary hot dogs; the Police Department’s bike safety check and bike raffle sponsored by Bain’s Hardware; EMS and first responders’ Touch-a-Truck; the Library’s face painting and 50/50 raffle; and Sea Bright trivia from the Historical Society. The Sea Bright Business Collective, craft and artisan market, and recreation committee will also keep the day lively with vendors, bounce houses, and more. Guests won’t want to miss the chance to leave their mark on a handprint mural along the seawall or participate in the Sea Bright Day Passport challenge to win the Ultimate Sea Bright Gift Basket.“This event is all about celebrating the heart and soul of Sea Bright—our people, our businesses, our services, and our spirit,” said Mayor Brian Kelly. “We are thrilled to launch what we know will become a great annual tradition.”Sea Bright Day is made possible through the collaboration of the Borough Council, all municipal departments, local committees, and area businesses.
