Governor Sherrill unveiled the New Jersey Report Card, an interactive, public-facing website that allows New Jersey residents to see where their tax dollars are going and what state-funded programs are delivering for their communities. The report card is the latest milestone in a promise Governor Sherrill made in Executive Order No. 5, signed on Inauguration Day, that set a standard: state government must save New Jerseyans time and money, and every taxpayer dollar must be invested wisely. During a visit to Cherokee High School in Marlton, New Jersey, Governor Mikie Sherrill highlighted ongoing progress on her kids’ online safety agenda. The Governor was joined by Assemblywoman Andrea Katz, a strong legislative proponent of youth mental health and well-being; Jacqueline Gibbs, President of the New Jersey Parent Teacher Association; and representatives from the Lenape Regional High School District.

Governor Mikie Sherrill delivered her inaugural budget address on Tuesday, outlining her Administration’s plan to fulfill its mandate of making New Jersey more affordable, protecting our children’s futures, and improving government accountability and transparency. The budget is the most fiscally responsible in years. When Governor Sherrill took office, New Jersey was on track to quickly deplete its surplus, and she immediately set to work developing a budget proposal that reins in spending without creating new taxes on everyday New Jerseyans.

The New Jersey Department of Children and Families (NJ DCF) announced that the Family Connects NJ program (FCNJ) – the state’s Universal Nurse Home Visiting program – has been expanded to support more families welcoming home a newborn in six new counties. The service is now available in all of South Jersey, and most of Central and North Jersey, with program rollout on track to reach statewide implementation next year.

Today, during her inaugural speech, Governor Mikie Sherrill signed two executive orders delivering on her promise to declare a State of Emergency on Utility Costs on Day One. Executive Order No.1 delivers immediate ratepayer relief and freezes rate hikes for New Jersey families. Executive Order No. 2 takes action to massively expand in-state power generation – including solar and battery storage in the short-term, and nuclear power in the long-term, to lower electric bills.
