Swing on by the Belmar Arts Center for an evening of multi-media mayhem, featuring DJ Purple Stuff [aka Kevin Spyker] spinning Electro-Swing, Funky Disco and Deep House, along with a live loop improv set by BAC Music Director Matthew Trice. We'll merge the sounds and scenery from a century ago, screening cinematic visuals overhead with classic films like 'Metropolis' and 'A Trip to the Moon'. . .
These mesmerizing works hail from the dawn of the motion picture era, amidst world war, prohibition, flappers and bootleggers, stock market booms and busts -- all fueled by rapid industrialization! Considered to be the launch of Sci-Fi, these movies express visions of our bold tech-driven future, blurring the lines between Man and Machine . . . Utopia and Dystopia . . . Opulence and Decadence . . .100 years later, we can see the little bits of history repeating, so perhaps the best solution still remains the same: Cut loose and dance away the troubles of the day!
