Coast Guard searching for man missing off Belmar shores

U.S. Coast Guard rescue crews and local police spent hours searching for a 20-year-old after he went missing off Belmar last night.  The man was last seen wearing a black tank top and black shorts when he went swimming sometime before 8 p.m., said Petty Officer Jonathan Lindbergh, a Coast Guard spokesman.  Belmar police initially reported two people “in distress” in the water, according to Lindbergh, but local police were able to pull one person from the water.  The search for the other person was still active as of 10:15 p.m.
