NJ Governor Calls First Cabinet Meeting
Gov. Chris Christie has called his first Cabinet meeting, telling his advisers that he expects transparency from all departments.
The makeup of the Cabinet is still being finalized. No one from the Public Advocate’s Office or Motor Vehicle Commission was present, calling into question whether the Republican governor will keep those Cabinet-level positions.
Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak says the governor is still considering the role of those offices in his administration.
A commissioner for the Department of Children and Families has not been appointed, but the acting commissioner was at the meeting and Christie has said he plans to make an appointment to that department.
Cabinet members make $141,000 and must be confirmed by the state Senate.
