QUEEN NEARLY WORE OUT THE “BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY” TAPE

UNDATED (AP) – Queen’s early vision of “Bohemian Rhapsody” was quite clear, in a literal sense. Guitarist Brian May tells author Phil Sutcliffe for the new book “Queen” when they held up the tape of “Bohemian Rhapsody” to the light, they could see right through it. May says they had added about 180 voices and the guitar orchestra in so many overdubs that they wore out the tape. They transferred it to a new tape and May was upset about that because they lost sound quality that way. He calls it an “elusive sound” because every time they added to it, they lost something as well. The book “Queen” is out now.
