RINGO STARR PLANS “Y NOT”

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Ringo Starr was looking for the perfect producer and happened to look in the mirror. As he puts it, “I was looking REAL groovy that day.” For the first time, Starr produced his own album, called “Y Not.” He got a lot of help in making it. Dave Stewart, Don Was, Joss Stone, Ben Harper and Richard Marx all make appearances on it. So does Paul McCartney, who plays bass on one song and does a duet with Starr on another. Joe Walsh also plays on the album, but perhaps that’s a family connection. Last December, Walsh married the sister of Starr’s wife, making them brothers-in-law by marriage. “Y Not” comes out January 12. Starr will also get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 8.
