Across NJ, Extra Patrols To Catch Drunken Drivers
Police departments across New Jersey will be looking closely for drunk drivers as the new year is rung
in.
And 92 communities have some extra help to pay for the patrols.
They received $5,000 grants from the state’s “Over the Limit, Under-Arrest” campaign.
That means that the City of Passaic will have three or four roving officers trying to catch drunk drivers, while little Saddle Brook will have one officer assigned to DWI patrol.
A year ago, the state’s “Over the Limit, Under Arrest” crackdown resulted in more than 2,000 drunken driving arrests.
For revelers who don’t want to get behind the wheel, mass transit lines across New Jersey will have extra service late Wednesday and early Thursday.
