MUSICIANS PAY TRIBUTE TO JEFF HEALEY
TORONTO (AP) – Randy Bachman of Bachman-Turner Overdrive and The Guess Who says the best compliment he can pay Jeff Healey is the fact that Bachman never could rip off any of Healey’s techniques. Bachman says guitar players notice other players and see how they’re playing. He says with Healey, “It was like, upside down backwards, wrong fingers,” and he couldn’t learn any tricks from him. Healey played guitar on his lap. Bachman was one of the musicians who took part in a Healey tribute in Toronto on Saturday, along with Cream singer Jack Bruce, Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan and Alannah Myles. Healey died in March after a lifelong battle with cancer.
