ROY ORBISON AND WIFE HAVE BEETLE NAMED FOR THEM
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) – Roy Orbison and his widow, Barbara, have a unique honor: they have a bug named for them. Arizona State University entomologist Quentin Wheeler announced the description and discovery of the whirligig beetle “Orectochilus orbisonorum” during a Roy Orbison tribute concert at the school last weekend. Barbara Orbison says, “I have never seen an honor like that.” Wheeler was co-author of the research behind the discovery of the beetle, which is native to India.
