V-DAY SPAT TURNS OUT TO BE HOAX
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) – It seemed too good to be true, and it turns out it was. The widely viewed Valentine’s Day Internet breakup of two North Carolina college students turns out to be bogus. Ryan Burke has confessed that the confrontation that featured singers, hundreds of spectators and a profanity-laced tirade was a fake. Burke says it was all a stunt to show the power of Internet communities and the amount of money that companies make from them. Not only is the couple not breaking up, they weren’t even dating. The fake video attracted plenty of attention, including more than 747-thousand hits on YouTube, where users post video online. The report also got quite a bit of local and national media coverage, including in this feature.
