MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – How do you make Elvis cool to teenagers? You put him on MySpace. (more…)
HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) – Ever sit on an NJ Transit train that is held up to wait for an Amtrak engine to roar pass?
NJ Transit says it’s a big problem and has an idea about how to fix it.
The state-run transportation agency is pushing for a joint control center operated with Amtrak to decide which trains go ahead.
According to an analysis in The Sunday Record of Bergen County, NJ Transit trains were delayed a total of 157 hours in 2005 and 2006 to allow delayed Amtrak trains to move ahead.
But Amtrak, which operates the Northeast Corridor tracks, says even more Amtrak trains were held up so NJ Transit rigs could pass.
