AAUW Celebrates Anniversary Year with Harriet Tubman Presentation by Local Performance Artist

The Northern Monmouth County Branch of AAUW is celebrating two anniversaries, the 90th anniversary of the founding of the branch and the 50th anniversary of the AAUW Used Book Sale, with a Wine and Cheese Soiree and special performance at Old First Church in Middletown on Sunday, September 24. From 4 to 5 P.M. the community is invited for refreshments and an opportunity to browse and buy in the Used Book Sale site. Following at 6 P.M., there will be a special presentation, Come Ride My Train: A Conversation with Harriet Tubman, enacted by noted local performance artist and AAUW member, Lorraine Stone. Ms. Stone's presentation will be followed with a closing reflection on the history of slavery in Monmouth County presented by Elaine Lent, Old First Church Historian and AAUW member. This will be the first of several events to celebrate the anniversary year.
