The Monmouth Civic Chorus invites all singers to a Summer Sing featuring Haydn's glorious Lord Nelson Mass. Written in 1798, the Lord Nelson Mass is one of six late masses written by Haydn for the Esterhazy family. Chief Haydn biographer H.C. Robbins Landon calls it "Haydn's greatest single composition". It is Haydn's largest mass, and is arguably his most well-known and beloved choral composition. It's a must sing for all choral enthusiasts. The Summer Sing is an opportunity to get to know the award-winning Monmouth Civic Chorus and its Artistic Director, Dr. Ryan Brandau. Dr. Brandau holds the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the Yale School of Music, an MPhil in historical musicology from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), and a BA in Music from Princeton University. Dr. Brandau is Artistic Director of Princeton Pro Musica and Amor Artis, and works with the Symphonic Choir of Westminster Choir College. Singers are invited to audition for the Monmouth Civic Chorus 2017-18 season. Audition appointments are available on Wednesday evenings in Tinton Falls beginning in September.
