A 1971 film which began as a portrait of civil rights leader Fred Hampton and the Illinois Black Panther Party. Half-way through the shoot, Hampton was murdered by members of the Chicago Police Department while he slept. Only 21 years old, Fred Hampton was an inspiration to a whole community. A lesser-known chapter in Black history, his untimely death was a loss to the whole movement for civil and human rights. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments served.
