The final concert of the season, with Principal Conductor Roy Gussman at the Count Basie Theatre podium, will feature the winners of the 2012 Goldwasser Young Artist Concerto Competition.
The competition attracts the best young musical talent in the state. Eleven-year-old Kingston Ho will dazzle listeners with his performance of Max Bruch's popular Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor, and seventeen-year-old Zachary Mowitz will display his brilliant and sensitive playing of Antonin Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B Minor, one of the great works for that instrument.
Also on the program is British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams' English Folk Song Suite.
A pre-concert interview with the soloists provides context for enhanced enjoyment and appreciation of the performances.
Tickets to the Monmouth Symphony, followed by dinner at a Red Bank restaurant, would make a perfect outing for Mother's Day.
