Pediatric Emergency Care - School Age Child Dates: Tuesday, May 7, 2013 5:00pm – 8:45 pm Place: Bey Hall, Young Auditorium Fee: $55/$40 for MU Students (A light dinner is included in the program fee) This program will provide 3.5 contact hours for nurses. Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies at Monmouth University is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver, by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Provider number: P242-5/12-15. Children are not just small adults and the practice of pediatric emergency medicine presents unique challenges. Dr. Mastrovitch will present an overview of conditions that require urgent care including guidelines for assessment and intervention. An emphasis will be placed on cases that should not be missed and how to identify the sick child in the health office or waiting room. Topics will include: Health issues commonly seen in the emergency care setting, diagnostic and treatment guidelines, pediatric systems review and the pediatric assessment triangle.
