Carmen, the Opera @ MTPL
The Middletown Township Public Library is presenting a two-hour production by the Capitol Heights Lyric Opera on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
The opera relates the story of the downfall of Don José, a naive soldier who is seduced by the wiles of the fiery gypsy, Carmen. The depictions of proletarian life, immorality and lawlessness, and the tragic outcome in which the main character dies on stage, broke new ground in French opera and were highly controversial.
This presentation is made possible by the generous underwriting of Joseph and Marie Anania, the MTPL Foundation, Inc., and the Young Peoples' Music Program of the Chinese American Cultural Association.
Free tickets are available at the Main Library's Reference Desk beginning Monday, November 19, 2012. All are invited to attend this exceptional program.
