Manasquan, NJ 08736

Highlights to Include "New Jersey: The Movie" Manasquan, N.J., August 15, 2013 The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF), ArtsHelp and the Monmouth County Arts Council (MCAC) present a family-friendly free event on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the Algonquin Arts Theatre, 173 Main Street in Manasquan. The centerpiece of the evening will be a screening of "New Jersey: The Movie." The short film, written and directed by Stephen J. Chernoski and produced by Alena Kruchkova, originally premiered at the 2009 Garden State Film Festival in Asbury Park. It attempts to answer the mysterious question, "Where is the dividing line between North and South Jersey?" With the northern part of the state influenced by New York and the southern by Philadelphia, the filmmakers interview denizens of both on pressing issues like the "hoagie vs. sub" vernacular. "New Jersey: The Movie" may not pinpoint the exact divide between North and South Jersey but it illuminates how the hilarious cultural differences between the two regions make the Garden State so unique. A second feature of the evening will be the premier of "One Light" a music video shot at "The Shore Must Go On," a Hurricane Sandy benefit held on April 4, 2013 that kicked off the 2013 Garden State Film Festival. The song was written by local marketing executive and festival board member, Lori Drazenovich, and was performed by Vinny Danielle on vocals and Tommy LaBella on sax. GSFF title sponsor, the Asbury Park Press, presented checks for $40,000 each to the American Red Cross Jersey Coast Chapter and the Shore Regional Tourism Council at the April 4 benefit.
