3rd Annual Xander Fill-A-Truck Food Drive 13-Year-Old's Annual Drive To Help The Hungry Manasquan, NJ-Most 13-year-olds spend the weeks before their birthday salivating over the latest video game or tech-gadget, not 13-year-old Xander Bossone of Manasquan. For the third year in a row, Xander is teaming up with Move For Hunger on his birthday to fill an entire truck of food with non-perishable food items for the less fortunate. On Dec. 16th Xander along with his friends and family will be set up in the parking lot of Acme on the corner of Rte. 71 and East Main St. from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Xander will be joined by representatives of Move For Hunger and Lowy's Moving Service of Neptune, NJ who have donated a truck and the necessary boxes for the food drive. Lowy's, an agent of Wheaton WorldWide Moving, will deliver all the donations to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties at the culmination of the drive. While all food donations are welcome, the most needed items are canned vegetables, fruits, meat and tuna, rice, beans, pasta and peanut butter. "It's just amazing to see someone so young continue to dedicate their time to making a difference in the lives of others," says Adam Lowy, Executive Director of Move For Hunger. "We are so excited to help Xander reach his goal of collecting 10,000 lbs. for the food bank. The donations from this drive will brighten the holiday for the 127,000 people in Monmouth and Ocean counties who struggle to find their next meal. Since 2005, the food bank has seen an 84% increase in people looking for assistance. Every donation can make a difference someone in need.
